Hi, I’m ann Eleece
Ann Eleece Kouns is a poet and visual artist from the Alabama Gulf Coast and enjoys working with a variety of mediums including watercolor, inks, photography, and digital collages and analog distortions through digital manipulation. Her personal and artistic visions are both deeply inspired by symbols, myths, fairy tales, and archetypes, particularly the characters and worlds of Alice, Dorothy, Persephone, and Nancy Drew. It is through her childhood tea parties, card games, outside adventures, fort building, and library visits that she learned to appreciate unsuspecting beauty, nurture curiosity, and to build tenacity. Shepherded by the adults in her life, these guided experiences taught her the value of living life BIG, finding grandeur in those small, unsuspecting moments.
Ann Eleece believes art is a vehicle by which we come to embrace life’s tints and tones in stolen glances, minute details, reflections, and memories. In capturing traces of beauty, curiosity, and numinosity, she seeks to gently usher viewers over life's thresholds by way of small marks and overlooked details. In this act of service, she hopes to awaken the viewer’s Artistic Eye, illuminating the rich and immersive inner landscape as it perceives the subconscious nuances that work silently below the surface to color our lives.
