Cacophony
I wonder what it’s like to not be
riddled with thoughts,
ideas,
opinions,
&
emotions
cycling round and round,
ad nauseam.
I wonder what it’s like to be indifferent, to
not have any real skin
in the game.
To observe and
let pass
what gives your heart pause.
To not become engrossed in
the minute details and to just
let
things
be
(or not).
I have a way of developing
curious queries
that, on the surface, make little to no sense.
I asked him one evening
“When you’re just sitting there, are you thinking? Is there ever a time your brain doesn’t flit around
in deep or shallow
thought?”
I bookended his reply with:
“I can’t remember silence.
I can’t remember
unconstructed worlds and ideas,
but I will tell you:
I’m not sure I ever want to.”
